Delmar Man Arrested for Stealing Car in Millsboro

DELMAR, DE – The Delaware State Police have arrested Terry Toomey, a 35-year-old man from Delmar, for allegedly stealing a car in Millsboro yesterday. On Wednesday afternoon, around 4:15 p.m., a trooper responded to Daisey Road after receiving a report about a stolen dark green Ford Focus. In addition to the car, the owner reported stolen fishing gear from inside the vehicle.

At 7:00 p.m., an officer from the Dagsboro Police Department spotted the stolen vehicle being driven through the town. The driver, identified as Terry Toomey, was apprehended at Bodie’s Dairy Market without incident. He was transferred into the custody of the Delaware State Police, where he was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $1,500, driving while suspended or revoked, driving at an unreasonable speed, and criminal trespass third degree.

Toomey was released on his own recognizance by Justice of the Peace Court 3. He had several active warrants for his arrest and was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $22,167 cash bond.
