Lawmaker wants to reestablish permits, background checks for carrying guns in Tennessee
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Tennessee lawmaker plans to file legislation to reestablish permits and background checks for carrying a handgun in Tennessee. Sen. London Lamar, D-Memphis, will join the Memphis Shelby Crime Commission at a press conference Tuesday to announce the proposed legislation. Lamar, a member of the Crime Commission, says she will sponsor legislation next winter to reinstate permits, training and background checks for handgun owners who intend to go armed.
