There was one shooting with an injury in Newburgh through January and February. There were three reported around this time last year.

The accident took place early Thursday morning and Poughkeepsie Police are looking for anyone that might have witnessed what happened. According to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, officers responded to a reported car vs pedestrian accident at a local Stewarts Shop convenience store on Thursday. Police said that the accident occurred at approximately 7:13 a.m. Thursday at the Stewart's located at 1200 Dutchess Turnpike in Poughkeepsie, NY, and involved two cars and a pedestrian.

POUGHKEEPSIE – Accused murderer Roy Johnson, Jr., 36, charged with killing a guest at the Courtyard Marriott in October 2022, has been moved from the Dutchess County Jail. Mid-Hudson News has learned that Johnson, a convicted felon, was moved to the Sing Sing State Correctional Facility in Ossining on January 12, 2023.

POUGHKEEPSIE – Poughkeepsie Middle School Principal Kelleyann Royce-Giron has submitted her resignation and will be leaving the school well before the academic year is over. Royce-Giron, herself a product of the Poughkeepsie City School District (PCSD), had served as principal at Poughkeepsie High School from 2020 through June 2022. She was well-liked by students at the school where she was considered to be friendly and energetic, according to the student body at the time.

The Dutchess County Sheff's Office is sharing more information about a bullet that was discovered at a local middle school this week. On Wednesday, a young student was in the lunchroom when they made a terrifying discovery. According to authorities, the student found a bullet on the floor of the cafeteria, triggering a hold in place for the school and lockouts in surrounding schools.

POUGHKEEPSIE – 911 Uniforms shop has been a fixture on Main Street for 28 years. Luis and Janet Juncosa have been providing the first responder and corrections communities with all their uniform needs, including tailoring and special requests. After 28 years, the retired cop and his bride are closing the Main Street fixture but have arranged for a new team to continue the tradition of providing police and firefighters with great service; Tim Roberts and Paul Osterman of KOD Custom Apparel have agreed to take over 911 uniforms.
