BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) – A Centre County man is being accused of driving with a blood alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit with three kids in his backseat.

David Richard Anderson, 45, of Milesburg, was driving in the area of Pine St. and Stoney Batter in Bellefonte when he allegedly pulled from a stop sign in front of an on-duty officer who said he had to “brake hard to avoid a collision.”

The officer proceeded to conduct a traffic stop on Anderson, who had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smelled like alcohol, according to a criminal complaint. The officer also noticed three kids in the backseat of Anderson’s car.

Anderson “performed poorly on the [field sobriety] tests” and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol before he was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a blood draw. The results showed that Anderson allegedly had a blood alcohol content of greater than 0.300%.
