A man was arrested after police say he shot and killed a 20-year-old victim Monday afternoon at Rose State College in Midwest City.

The Victim
Authorities identified the victim as Robenie W. "RJ" Long Jr., a 20-year-old Rose State College student from McLoud.

The Suspect
The Midwest City Police Department identified the suspect as Brandon Morrissette, 30. He was taken into custody shortly after the shooting on campus when he surrendered to police.
Morrissette was arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm on school property.

What Happened
Shortly after 12:15 p.m. Monday, April 24, the Midwest City Police Department received reports of a possible shooting at the Humanities building at Rose State College. A news release states that officers responded and were at the scene in about one minute, and a Midwest City police officer assigned to Rose State College was already there.
A nearby witness identified the suspect as the shooter, who police said had put the gun into a backpack after shooting the victim. When officers approached the suspect, the news release says he got down on his knees, raised his hands and said that he surrendered.
The victim, a 20-year-old student, was pronounced dead at the scene. On Tuesday, the Midwest City Police Department identified the victim as Robenie W. "RJ" Long Jr.
Police identified the suspect as Brandon Morrissette, 30. He was arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm on school property.
The news release states that the suspect's wife told investigators that she was walking out of the Humanities building with Long when Morrissette confronted them and shot the 20-year-old. Court documents say the wife reported that Morrissette thought they were having an affair.

Rose State College officials sent out an alert during the incident that they were experiencing an active-shooter situation on campus and that students and staff should shelter in place and listen to orders from law enforcement. They later announced that the all-clear was given after law enforcement secured the scene and determined there was no threat to others.
Where the Shooting Happened
Rose State College is a public, two-year college that first offered classes in 1970 and has an annual enrollment of more than 13,000. The campus is located at 6420 SE 15th St., just off Interstate 40 in Midwest City.
