Spring concert coming up for the Wiregrass Community Band
Dothan, AL (WDHN) – The Wiregrass Community Band will take the stage soon for their spring concert that features several songs dedicated to a man with local roots. Sunday, April 28th at 3pm in the Covenant Methodist Church Sanctuary the band will perform a variety of marches and several compositions by the late Robert W. Smith. Smith played trumpet in the band at Daleville High School before attending Troy University and was on the staff there before his death in 2023. Smith composed and directed the Orlando Magic Drum and Bugle Corp. He also composed over 100 pieces of work for junior and high school bands.

LBW Community College, which provides academic, technical and workforce training programs, is a pivotal part of economic development in five counties in south Alabama. Programs are offered on four campuses. The main campus is in Andalusia, with additional sites in Greenville, Opp and Luverne. LBW serves Butler, Covington, Crenshaw, Coffee and Geneva counties in Alabama and attracts students from Holmes, Jackson, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Washington counties in Florida.
