GOSHEN – A Middletown man and woman have been arrested and charged with drug possession and related charges for possession of some 900 bags of fentanyl with a street value of $13,500, amounts of oxycodone, Alprazolam and Clonazepam pills and over $18,000 in cash.

Vinny Hannon, 27, and Amanda Brown, 33, were arrested following execution of a search warrant at a Middletown residence, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

“They possessed over 900 baggies of fentanyl which had a street value of approximately $14,000 and additionally they had almost $20,000 in cash,” he said. “What’s unique about this four-month investigation is Vinny Hannon was previously arrested in Port Jervis several years back for the same type of offense and he was on probation at this time, therefore, he was able to be held in jail on bail.”

Assisting the Orange County Drug Task Force and the district attorney’s office in the four-month investigation were the sheriff’s Special Operations Group, City of Middletown Police and Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.

Given the potency of fentanyl, Hoovler said there was enough to kill about 25,000 people.”The negative possibilities of what could have happened with 900 bags of fentanyl are terrifying,” said Sheriff Paul Arteta.
