LOVETTSVILLE, VA — A stabbing incident in Lovettsville has led to the arrest of a teenage boy, as reported by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The event occurred on December 1 in the 38600 block of Morrisonville Road. The teenage suspect allegedly attempted to rob and abducted an adult victim, resulting in both the suspect and the victim sustaining injuries. The adult victim also suffered stab wounds during the altercation.

Washington County leaders use extra funds to boost preservation, pension and capital funds
The Washington County Commissioners agreed this week to transfer the remaining $5 million in the county's General Fund from Fiscal Year 2023 revenues to its pension fund. The commissioners had previously agreed to transfer another $20 million in revenues that were over budget for FY 2023 to the county's capital reserve fund. Of that, $8.5 million will be earmarked for improvements to the courthouse and the Washington County Detention Center, $1.5 million will be set aside for land preservation and $10 million will remain in capital reserves.
Shepherdstown Christmas Parade returns to boisterous pre-pandemic numbers
SHEPHERDSTOWN — On Saturday morning, the Shepherdstown Christmas Parade marched from the intersection of South Church Street and German Street down to Princess Street. While the parade had to be cancelled in 2020, due to concerns over it increasing the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic, it has slowly but steadily returned to its pre-pandemic numbers. This year’s attendance and participation numbers were, for the first time, as high as they would have been, prior to the pandemic, according to Shepherdstown Rotary Club member and parade organizer Peter Smith.
