A dynamic storm system will impact the Midwest Friday through Saturday. This storm system will bring multiple rounds of rain and storms, gusty winds, and up and down temperatures to Michiana.
The first round of rain and storms will move through Michiana late Thursday night into Friday morning. The Friday morning commute is going to be sloppy and wet for many. The first round of rain will be gone by lunchtime.
The second round of rain showers and storms will move through between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Strong to severe storms are not expected with the first two rounds of rain and storms.
A third of rain and storms will impact Michiana between 9 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday. This is when a line or broken like of storms will fire up along a cold front. Some of the storms that develop Friday evening into Friday night could pose a threat of severe weather.
If a severe storm develops, the main threat will be damaging wind gusts. The tornado threat is low, but not zero. The threat of large hail is very low.
There is still some uncertainty with this part of the forecast.
The rain and storms throughout the day and the timing of the third round, after daytime heating, will likely keep the threat of severe weather across Michiana limited Friday evening into Friday night.
The storms should weaken as they move from west to east across the area.
The storm threat will come to an end early Friday night. The main weather hazard Friday night through Saturday will be the wind.
The wind will be out of the south southwest at 20 to 30 mph. Wind gusts Friday night could be as high as 40 mph. The wind will be out of the west northwest at 20 to 30 mph.
Wind gusts on Saturday could be as high as 45 mph.
The high on Saturday will be recorded at or just after midnight. That is when temperatures will be well into the 50s.
Temperatures will drop throughout the day. Temperatures will be in the lower 40s Saturday morning but in the 30s much of the day.
There will also be a chance of a rain/snow mix Saturday.
