METROPOLIS – The following information was released by the Metropolis Police Department on Monday, June 5, 2023.

May 29, 2023
A Metropolis officer stopped a tan Jeep Cherokee on Butler and E. 8th St. The Jeep showed expired registration, however, a computer check revealed that the registration was suspended. A computer check on the driver, Adrea M. Simmons, 48, of Metropolis revealed that her driver’s license was suspended as well. Simmons was charged with Driving while License Suspended, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration. Simmons was released on bond.

June 2, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to the Fairmont Apartments on E. 12th St. The caller advised that John W. Cook, 43, of Metropolis was in an apartment. Cook had been previously trespassed from Massac County Housing property. Officers located Cook and arrested him for Criminal Trespass to State Supported Property. Cook was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

June 4, 2023
At 3:45 a.m., Metropolis officers received a call of persons fighting in the 6000 block of E. 7th St. Upon arrival, officers observed a male on top of a struggling female on the grass. Officers learned that the victim had attempted to flee the home and was chased down and tackled by Sidney S. Adams, 25, of Metropolis. Officers also observed marks on her neck and chest. Adams was arrested and charged with Domestic Battery and Unlawful Restraint. He was also charged with Resisting Arrest. Adams was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Zachary D. Greer, 28, of Staunton, IL, was arrested on the eastbound ramp to I-24. Greer was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Macoupin County, IL for Criminal Damage to Property. Greer was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
