A Metropolis man has been arrested and charged following a standoff with law enforcement on Monday in the Massac County town.

The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation says 29-year-old Eric Rushing is charged with Aggravated Battery and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.

On Monday, ISP was investigating an incident of an aggravated battery involving a firearm in Metropolis.

Rushing barricaded himself inside a residence located in the 400 block of W. 20th Street.

ISP SWAT and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene and Rushing eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
