1-year-old boy dies after being pulled from pool at Mesa home
MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A 1-year-old boy has died after being pulled from a backyard pool at a Mesa home Sunday evening.
First responders were called out to a house near Horne and Southern Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. When they arrived, the young boy was already out of the pool, but it’s unclear how long he had been underwater. Crews treated and drove the child to the hospital where he died later that evening.
Investigators say the child had been taking a nap in a trailer in the backyard when his mother went inside the home to use the restroom. When she came back to check on him, she found him in the pool. She got him out and call 911, police said. No foul play is suspected, and police say it appears this was simply a “tragic incident.”
