Young child suffers serious burns after falling into firepit in Merrimack, N.H.

MERRIMACK, NH — A young child suffered severe burns after falling into a firepit in Merrimack, New Hampshire Sunday.

Officials and fire crews responded to Mayhew Road around 4:00 p.m. after receiving the report of the burned child, according to Merrimack police.

The child was flown to a Boston area hospital to be treated for their serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Merrimack police.

An initial investigation revealed the child accidentally stumbled into the pit.
