Anselmo-Merna and South Loup Compete in Track and Field

The Anselmo-Merna and South Loup track teams were both in action on Thursday.  Anselmo-Merna competed at the Buffalo Bill track invite in North Platte.  Highlights for the Coyotes included Carlee Bartak finishing third in the girls triple jump.  Bartak was joined by Makenna Miller, Shayleigh Coleman, and Koral Schmidt to finish fourth in the girls 4×100 meter relay.  AM was fifth in the girls 4×400 meter relay.  Makenna Miller placed 6th in the girls 100 meter hurdles.  Rhianen Myers was fifth in the girls 300 meter hurdles.  Lily Thornton was 5th in the girls discus.  Peter Nuvoloni of Anselmo-Merna tied for 4th in the boys 100 meter dash and was fifth in the 200.  Nuvoloni was joined by Josiah Griffith, Caden Coufal, and Jarrett Wells to place 4th in the 4×100 meter relay.

South Loup was among the teams that competed at the Hi-Line Invite at Elwood.  South Loup finished as the team runner up in both the boys and girls team standings.  South Loup was just four points behind Bertrand for the boys team title while the girls finished as runner up to Elm Creek.  The team of Trey Connell, Dawson Mason, Silas Cool, and Logan Recoy placed first in the boys 4×800 meter relay in a winning time of 8:55.45.  South Loup also won the boys 4×400 meter relay.  The team of Cache Gracey, Dylan Pandorf, Silas Cool, and Logan Recoy posted a winning time of 3:38.32.  Cache Gracey won the boys 400 in a time of 51.51 and Silas Cool won the 800 in a time of   2:07.57.  Logan Recoy won the boys mile in a winning time of 4:57.62.  Other highlights for the South Loup boys team included placing two in the top three of the boys discus.  Lance Jones was 2nd followed by Rio Remund in third.  Remund was the runner up in the boys shot put. Dylan Pandorf was third in the 400 meters. On the girls side, Talli Martin won the girls 1600 in a time of 5:50.31 and won the 3200 in a time of 13:01.36.  South Loup won the girls 4×100 meter relay.  The team of Joslyn Reiff, Halie Recoy, Erin Fitzgerald, and Charli Vickers posted a winning time of 54.73.  Other top three finishes for the South Loup girls included Joslyn Reiff third in the 100, Erin Fitzgerald 2nd in the 400, Charli Vickers 2nd in both the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles.  Ella Cool was runner up in the 3200 meters and Ivy Tullis was 3rd in the 1600.
