New Vision helping individuals safely detox from drugs or alcohol
There’s a new program in the area dedicated to helping people take the first step on the road to recovery. Introduced at the May Action Team meeting, New Vision is an in-patient service at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Fort Morgan, provided as a partnership between the hospital and SpecialCare Hospital Management. SpecialCare has been in business for over 30 years, providing services in a medical setting for patients seeking assistance with withdrawal. They partner with hospitals to help them provide this needed service to their communities – present in small community hospitals and large metropolitan hospitals alike.
Chamber Member of the Week: Overland Trail Museum
The Overland Trail Museum was first opened in 1936. The original rock structure, designed to resemble a Fort, was a WPA project and displayed a small collection of pioneer artifacts, archaeological finds and head mounts of local animals. The original stone structure is now their front lobby and houses some of their oldest collections. The Overland Trail Museum is owned and operated by the City of Sterling.

Hail pelts parts of Colorado's Eastern Plains, tornado warnings issued
A tornado warning was issued for Morgan County on Colorado's Eastern Plains Monday night. The warning expired at 7:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Another warning was issued shortly afterwards for Washington County further east. That was extended to expire at 9:45 p.m.At 7:45 p.m. in the Akron area, marble-sized hail was falling heavily during the storm system, making for difficult driving conditions.A tornado warning is issued when a tornado is happening now or about to happen. Action should be taken immediately; you should enter your safe space.During a tornado, it is especially important to locate an interior room with no windows on the lowest floor possible. This will often be the basement or bathroom.

Third Annual Carlson Classic held in Brush on Sunday
The third annual Carlson Classic Disc Golf Tournament was held on Sunday in Brush. The tournament is held in honor of Wayne Carlson and his wife, Carol, for their contributions to the disc golf community. The first half of the tournament began at Watrous Park DGC, with a lunch break, and finished the tour at Pettey’s Park Golf Course.
