A viral video circulating online captures a student fighting a teacher in a classroom at Golden Valley High School.

Merced Union High School District says it has investigated the incident and cannot provide further details regarding the fight due to privacy laws.

But the district did say the fight happened last Friday, March 24th, during 5th period.

It says one of its substitute teachers and a student got into an argument that turned physical.

At this time, it is unclear what led to the altercation.

The district says there are multiple videos online, from different angles, so "the entire story of what happened may not be apparent."

The video shows a student approaching the teacher telling him, "What's up boy," as the student continues to get in the teacher's face and starts shoving him.

You hear the teacher telling the student to back up.

The student then, pushes the teacher forcefully as he turns his back and starts walking away.

The teacher then throws a clipboard at the student. After that, it escalates to the student throwing punches at the teacher.

It appears that the teacher then tries to hold down the teen in a headlock until the student surrenders.

It is unknown if the teacher was fired, but several TikTok videos are circulating saying, "get justice for this sub."

Merced Union High School District provided the following statement saying in part, "Merced Union High School District (MUHSD) takes student and staff safety seriously and conducted a thorough investigation. Additionally, a police report was filed, and appropriate corrective action was taken."
