According to the Merced Police Department, officers were called Monday afternoon to R Street and Childs Avenue regarding a shooting.

When officers arrived, they learned that a disagreement had taken place between two men which led to gunfire.

Officers say the alleged shooter, Jerry Johnson, 53, struck the victim’s vehicle door and no injuries were reported.

Following the shooting, however, investigators were able to track down Johnson at a home in the 1100 block of 4th Street.

There, Johnson was then in a standoff with officers before surrendering. That standoff also caused a nearby elementary school to lock down.
