A former New England Patriots fullback was arrested and hit with a felony charge on Sept. 18 after allegedly assaulting an 82-year-old man, according to CBS News and multiple other outlets.

Patrick Pass, 46, was taken into custody in Rhode Island following an Aug. 28 incident in which he allegedly shoved the unidentified octogenarian during an argument over exercise equipment at a Planet Fitness location. The victim reportedly sustained injuries to his lower back.

According to arrest records reviewed by CBS , Pass has been charged with assaulting a person over 60 years of age causing bodily injury (a felony in Rhode Island) and disorderly conduct (a misdemeanor). Pass was released on $10,000 bail and ordered not to have any contact with the victim.

The Patriots drafted Pass in 2000, the same year Tom Brady joined the roster. The team went on to win three Super Bowls during Pass’ tenure. Throughout his career, Pass completed 1,096 yards. He ran for three touchdowns and caught one more during his seven years spent with the team.

Pass never truly recovered from a hamstring injury sustained in 2005, playing just four more games before retiring from the NFL in 2009. He went on to coach the Boston Freedom Fighters and the Massachusetts Pirates, but in 2023 he was indefinitely suspended by the Indoor Football League (IFL) after a riot in which Pass and several players entered the stands, fighting with attendees. However, he is still listed as the Pirates’ Director of Football Personnel Development.

Pass is due back in court in January.

I'm sure the NFL will spin this altercation in favor of the ex player and make the victim the bad guy
