    Here's how local softball teams fared during the weekend

    MENDON — The Mendon softball team won a pair of games as the host of an invitational on Saturday. Those wins came by scores of 6-1 over Eau Claire and 6-2 over Quincy.

    Ally Butler struck out 19 batters in the win over Eau Claire. At the plate, Mendon got three hits from Brielle Bailey while Abby Butler collected a pair of runs driven in with two hits. Jadyn Samson connected for two hits and an RBI, Cienna Nightingale registered a base hit as well.

    Mendon got 14 strikeouts from Rowan Allen in the second game.

    Samson and Ally Butler each had two hits in the game, Bailey and Kaidee Gonser had one as well. Taya Bingaman and Abby Butler each drove in one.

    Mendon is now 18-1.

    On Friday, Three Rivers fell in a couple of games to Vicksburg. The Bulldogs won 4-2 and 14-4. In the first game, Emily Ventrone collected three hits for the Cats while London Hoffmaster registered two. The second game saw Jennaya Decker club a home run and Ava Forman collect three hits. Lanie Glass added two hits in the game, Peyton Ware drove in one.

    Sturgis dropped a pair of games at the Battle Creek Lakeview invite on Saturday. Host Lakeview beat the Trojans 14-0 in the first game. Sturgis got a pair of hits from Haylee Pappas and Riley Northrop. Leah Yunker and Sophia Crites each had a hit as well. Marshall won 28-4 in the second game. Yunker, Maddy Webb, Northrop and Crites each had a hit in the game for Sturgis.

    Centreville beat Union City 15-1 and 8-4 on Saturday. Hannah Lennard drove in five runs with a home run and a double, LilyAnn Lutz recorded two hits with an RBI. M Rexford also had two hits while Nikki Lennard drove in two, Abbe Wherrett and M Douglas each drove in one. Mary Stears collected two RBIs with a pair of hits in the second game, Kendalynn Bernheisel did the same. Both Wherrett and Hannah Lennard had two hits and an RBI.

    Burr Oak won one and dropped one on Saturday. The Bobcats beat up on Waldron, 14-0. Brooklynn Root and Braylyn Hernandez both had two hits and two RBIs, Inez Ultz drove in one with a hit as well. Amy Ledyard, Natalie Hemenway and Linda Ultz each registered a hit. Root struck out 14 in the game, finishing with a perfect game. Reading beat Burr Oak 6-2 in the second game, Root finished with two hits and two RBIs.

    The White Pigeon softball team played to a 1-1 decision at the Climax-Scotts tournament held on Saturday. The Chiefs beat Olivet 12-5 in the first game as Leigha Shudell had three hits and five RBIs. Mable Post registered three hits and two RBIs, Cali Raley had two hits and two RBIs while Emily Miller registered two hits. Climax-Scotts beat White Pigeon 25-19 in the second game. Shudell hit a grand slam and drove in five total runs, Post drove in four with three hits.

    Bronson fell in a couple of games to Buchanan on Thursday. Buchanan won 10-2 int he first game as Ashlynn Harris and Ciara Blankenship each recorded a base hit. Buchanan won 20-2 in the second game. Brealyn Lasky had two hits, Lydia Wells and Harris each had a hit as well.

    On Friday, Bronson split with Coldwater. The Vikings won 3-2 in the first game. Harris struck out 10 over seven innings of work. Kaitlynn Scare registered the only hit for Bronson in the win. Coldwater won 6-0 in the second game. Harris had two singles, Roni Bir did as well. Wells logged a base hit.
