MCSO swears in new deputies, both raised in Mendocino County

Two people recently sworn in as deputies for the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office were both raised locally, the MCSO reported this week.

According to the MCSO, on May 30, 2023, Deputy Isaac Sanchez and Deputy Sierra Rogina were sworn in as deputies of Mendocino County Sheriff-Coroner Matt Kendall.

Kendall’s office describes both new hires as already having ties to the local community, noting that Deputy Rogina was raised in the Ukiah area, and Deputy Sanchez was raised in the Anderson Valley communities of Philo and Boonville.

Both new deputies also recently attended the Santa Rosa Junior College Basic Police Academy, officially graduating last week on May 24.

After being sworn in this week, they will begin their 18-week training program with the MCSO, which adds that the new deputies “will be working on patrol throughout the county during their training programs.”

The MCSO also urges anyone interested in becoming a Deputy Sheriff to visit www.mendocinosheriff.org and select “Careers” on the top right banner.
