Tallmadge police bust gambling operation on West Avenue, charge 11 people
Tallmadge police said Wednesday that a recent investigation led to gambling charges for 11 individuals at Pallet Palace, a West Avenue business and illegal gambling site. Four men and four women were arrested on misdemeanor charges of gambling. Two men and a woman were charged with operating a gambling house, also a misdemeanor.

WEST AKRON: Officers from the Gun Violence Reduction Team and Street Narcotics Uniform Detail attempted to stop a driver at the intersection of Sunset View Drive and Copley Road April 15. The driver sped away, despite lights and sirens, and led police on a short pursuit through neighborhoods, driving erratically and running stop signs. The driver pulled over on Wildwood Avenue, exited the vehicle and was taken into custody on a warrant. The passengers were removed and a tow inventory was conducted, which revealed psilocybin mushrooms and a loaded, stolen handgun, positioned where the driver could access it. Another handgun, found in the glove box, was where a front seat passenger could access it. Both men were arrested on weapons charges and taken to the Summit County Jail. The driver was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of cocaine, found in his pocket.
