‘Where the Hell Is Melania?!’ Michael Steele Says Trump Is Getting ‘Too Close’ to Laura Loomer

MSNBC host and former Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele wants to know where Melania Trump is while her husband gets “too close” to racist conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer.

Former President Donald Trump has been seen with Loomer several times in public recently. On Tuesday, Loomer was seen exiting Trump’s plane before he debated Vice President Kamala Harris in Philadelphia. The next day, Loomer accompanied Trump to a commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, which she has called an “inside job.”

Loomer has also been seen on multiple occasions making friendly physical contact with the former president. More consequentially, Loomer may be influencing Trump’s thinking, as she appeared to have done when during the debate, the ex-president repeated a false claim about Haitian immigrants that she spread on social media. She also earned a rebuke from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who called Loomer “extremely racist” after the conspiracy theorist said the White House will “smell like curry” if Harris is elected.

On Friday’s All In on MSNBC, Steele appeared as a guest and speculated that Greene is upset about Loomer getting more access to Trump than she has. The former RNC chair then wondered where the former First Lady is in all of this.

“Donald Trump has these people around him, not because he’s seeking advice from them, not because they’re offering any particular intellectual insight, but because they affirm his worst instincts,” Steele said. “They affirm his bad judgment. They tell him what they want. You showed that picture of Loomer sitting, standing up under Donald Trump. First question crossed my mind was, where the hell is Melania?! That’s a little too close for a pic. But it’s that kind of closeness that Donald Trump likes.”
