‘Americans Will Believe All of It’ Russian TV Hosts Mock US For Believing Putin’s ‘Trolling’ Endorsement of Kamala Harris

A Russian state media host and his guest pundits laughed at Americans who they said would fall for Vladimir Putin’s “trolling” endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris over Donald Trump on Thursday.

The clip showing a panel on the Russian propaganda network laughing over American voters with just two months until the vice president will face former President Donald Trump in the general election was shared by Daily Beast’s Julia Davis on X.

As CNN noted , Putin was speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok when he was asked about the 2024 election and who Russians should support.

“Our ‘favorite,’ if you can call it that, was the current president, Mr. Biden. But he was removed from the race, and he recommended all his supporters to support Ms. Harris,” Putin said. “Well, we will do so – we will support her. She laughs so expressively and infectiously that it means that she is doing well.”

On Russian state media in a clip flagged and posted to Davis’s Russian Media Monitor YouTube page Friday, panelists and host Vladimir Soloviev laughed at Putin’s comment and the likelihood Americans will believe him that the Kremlin would like to see Harris win.

“Of course, we have to decide whom to support in these elections, we can’t just leave it to chance,” Soloviev commented.

The program then aired Putin’s comments as well as remarks about Harris from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov , who said all Russians should “fall in love with the laughter of Kamala Harris.”

The Russian state TV pundits in Davis’s clip reacted to the statements from Putin and Peskov with laughter.

“This is trolling of the highest level,” Soloviev said. “And Americans will believe all of it is real.”

Many influential figures on the right appeared quick to share Putin’s comments and to take his apparent endorsement of Harris at face value – including Trump.

“I don’t know if I’m insulted or he did me a favor,” Trump said of Putin’s statement while addressing the Economic Club of New York. Others reacted on social media:
