CNN’s Harry Enten Says RFK Jr. Tanking Amid Report He Tried to Trade Harris Endorsement For Job: ‘Truly a Bizarre Campaign’

CNN data reporter Harry Enten declared on Thursday that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s support is “falling through the floor” amid reports he floated the idea of an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in exchange for a cabinet position.

The Washington Post first reported on Wednesday that Kennedy Jr. has sought a meeting with Harris to discuss a job in her administration. The Post similarly reported last year that Kennedy Jr. had a similar offer in mind for Donald Trump .

“That is truly a bizarre campaign,” Enten told John Berman in reaction to the latest Kennedy Jr. news.

The reporter noted that the presidential election had been the “most boring” of his lifetime before President Joe Biden dropped his reelection campaign. Since then, Enten said, the election has been pure “nutter butter.”

On Kennedy Jr., Enten turned to the latest data from Pew Research Center as the latest indicator that the independent candidate’s support is tanking as he’s gone from 15% support in July to 7% now.

Among those former Kennedy Jr. supporters, Enten pointed out, more are going to Harris than Trump with 39% now backing Harris and Trump pulling 20%. Kennedy Jr. is retaining 39% of those voters, according to the data.

“If you’re only holding onto two-fifths of your support from July, you’re falling through the floor, which RFK Jr. is doing. But the key nugget here is Kamala Harris is picking up a slew of those voters who are disaffected who said they were going to vote third party,” Enten said. “They’re no longer voting third party. By a two to one margin, they say they’re going to vote for Kamala Harris over Donald Trump.”
