18-year-old dead after parking lot shooting in St. Mary's County

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is investigating after an 18-year-old victim was found dead in a Mechanicsville parking lot early Friday morning.

Deputies responded to the parking lot of the Big Dogs in Paradise in the 28700 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville at 1:15 a.m. for the report of shots fired.

Deputies located the victim, who police identified by the legal name of Isiaih Alexander Woodland, 18, of Lexington Park, near the scene dead from gunshot wounds.

Police say she was a transgender woman whose first name was Tasiyah, but also went by Siyah.

Police add, that at this time, it does not appear that the victim was targeted because of her gender identity.

The shooting remains under investigation.
