Magistrates Discuss Workload During Special Meeting
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court met during a special called meeting Thursday (3/23) morning. The court approved accepting the resignation of the Judge Executive’s Administrative Assistant. During the meeting, Judge Executive Troy Kok said that there was no indication that this was about to happen as the court just approved the search for a Grant Writer position during their last regular meeting just over a week ago.
Brandenburg man sentenced for wife's murder and the killing of a family pet
On Friday, March 24 in the Meade County Courthouse, Christopher M. Pollock, 47, of Brandenburg, was sentenced for the murder of his wife two years ago. In a plea agreement reached with the Prosecutor, Pollock pled guilty to the crimes of murder-domestic violence, resisting arrest, assault-3rd degree of a police officer, wanton endangerment-1st degree of a police officer, and cruelty to animals—2nd degree. As part of the plea agreement, Pollock was sentenced to 30 years in jail.
YMCA Camp Piomingo accepting summer registrations
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - YMCA said it is now accepting registrations for this year’s Camp Piomingo overnight summer camp. YMCA Camp Piomingo is located in the woods of Otter Creek Park in Meade County, offering kids from age 6-16 the chance to experience nature walks, horseback riding, swimming, and crafts while making new friends.

Magistrates Work Through Shorter Agenda
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court worked through a shorter agenda of the current term Tuesday (3/14) night. No public comments allowed the Fiscal Court to move into their business session. They approved the Meade County Clerk’s 2022 Excess Fees. The court also approved the 2021 tax audit report for the Meade County Sheriff’s settlement. The court voted in favor to approve the Code of Conduct Disclosure Form for employees. They also approved a resolution to use ARPA funds for appliances, equipment and payments related to approved ongoing projects for Dispatch, Parks, and a storage building at the Solid Waste and Recycling Center.

Chad Hobbs presented Gwen Carter with a $500 at the Meade County Messenger’s office on Monday. This year’s Meade County Fair Magazine produced by the Messenger had an entry form for a $500 drawing in it. Many people stopped by our fair booth and office to drop off their entries.
