COLLIN COUNTY (1080 KRLD)- A Collin County woman has been sentenced to prison for kidnapping her two granddaughters during a visit that was supervised by the Texas Department of Child Protective Services.

The  abduction happened at the end of a trip to a Cici’s Restaurant in McKinney in January when Jame Burns made off with the children.  Burns was with her son Justin for a CPS supervised visit with her two granddaughters.  Court records say as the visit was ending, Jame Burns grabbed the two young girls and bolted out the door.

Jame and the two girls were later found in Richardson. She was arrested and the children were returned to their mother, who has legal custody.

Burns has pleaded guilty to a kidnapping charge for a 5 year prison term. Son Justin, the father of the two girls, is still awaiting trial.
