DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A water main break closed a road and cut water service to homes early Friday in the Belvedere Park neighborhood of DeKalb County. Water burst up through the pavement on Midway Road near Memorial Drive, causing the road to crack and buckle. Watershed crews shut off the 6-inch water main at around 2:30 a.m. and completed their repairs near 1 p.m.

Cobb County weekend lane closures on SR 3/US 41/Cobb Parkway in Smyrna, Vinings for Resurfacing

Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will install single lane closures on State Route 3/US 41/Cobb Parkway (SR 3) this weekend for a resurfacing project between the Fulton County line in and Terrell Mill Road in Cobb County. Resurfacing improves the condition of the roadway and provides a smoother ride for drivers. Weather and onsite conditions permitting, one right or left lane will be closed on SR 3/US 41/ Cobb Parkway northbound and southbound through the project area each weekend night beginning 8 p.m. on Oct. 16 until 8 a.m. the following mornings. These lane closures will help ensure the safety of drivers and workers as crews begin patching the roadway in preparation for milling, inlay and resurfacing operations. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, pay attention and watch for workers.
