The Overhyped $300 Train Journey Across Alabama That Travelers Can’t Stop Raving About
The appeal of a train ride in Alabama starts with something a highway cannot offer: time to notice the railway itself. A locomotive working at the head of a short passenger train, the shape of an old coach window, and the pause before departure can turn a modest outing into the main event of a weekend. At the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera, that experience is built around preserved equipment and the Calera & Shelby Railroad.

ALDOT makes safety changes at busy Pinson intersection after I-Team report
Drivers in Pinson are seeing changes at a busy intersection after months of safety concerns and a review by the Alabama Department of Transportation. The intersection of Highway 75 and Sweeney Hollow Road has drawn complaints from drivers who said they had seen crashes and experienced traffic lights that were not working the way they should. “It’s very dangerous,” said Brian McGinnis, senior pastor at Cornerstone Church of God, which sits at the intersection. Akilah Brown, 54, said, “I've seen a crash over there before, somebody rear ended somebody before.” Fred Turner described problems he believed he saw with the signal timing, saying, “it'll even skip, like say for instance, if the intersection going like this, it'll stop and then it'll go again,” drivers told ABC 33/40 back in April.
