The McAlester police officer who died after a crash during a funeral procession for another officer was honored Wednesday at Ascension St. John.
Twenty-five-year-old Joseph Barlow was hit while escorting former McAlester Police Captain Richard Parker's body last week.
Barlow died from his injuries on Monday.
Ascension St. John held a flag ceremony to honor his service, memory and the gift of life he has provided as an organ donor.
"His death will leave a void in the hearts of his colleagues, a community and will be felt most deeply by his beloved family," said Dr. Michael Charles, the trauma medical detector of Ascension St. John. "However, out of the darkness of such a loss, we can find hope and a ray of light in LifeShare and the gift of organ donation."
Health officials say Barlow's donation could potentially help three or four patients.
"From this tragic event can come a ray of light, can come hope, can come organ donation to give life to another family," said Dr. Charles.
