Resident, firefighter hospitalized after blaze at Maynard apartment complex

MAYNARD, Mass. — A resident and a firefighter were taken to the hospital after a three-alarm blaze broke out at a senior public housing complex in Maynard on Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews responding to a report of a blaze at the Powder Mill Circle Apartments around 6:30 a.m. found a heavy fire and smoke on the second-floor of one of the buildings, according to the Maynard Fire Department.

The fire was confined to one side of the building. It was brought under control before 8 a.m.

Both the resident and firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

About eight residents were displaced and are now being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Police officers and firefighters from Concord, Acton, Boxboro, Marlboro, Lincoln, Sudbury, and Stow assisted Maynard crews at the scene.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting Maynard fire officials with an investigation.
