“Jaren Vogt had another very impressive outing, but timely errors on our end and strikeouts hampered our ability to fill the basepaths up,” said coach Pat Tschida. “We were tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the 6th when Rockford was able to get on by a few walks and a double. They eventually pushed 4 across in the bottom of the 6th inning and opened up the lead 5-1. We showed that we won’t just roll over easily and put together multiple competitive at-bats, stolen bases and eventually a massive hit by Isaiah Mead to come back and tie the game up in the top of the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 7th, the Rockets proved to be a bit too much for us and they were able to fill the bases and eventually score to end the game. We need our young guys and new varsity guys to be a part of these pressure situations. While I hate losing, this is all good stuff for us early in the year and reminds our boys that the process is much more important than the outcome.”
