MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — A new security protocol is going into place at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.

Hospital officials said that starting Tuesday, all visitors accompanying ER patients will be issued a sticker with their name to wear. The purpose of this is to identify people “who do not have business in the ER,” officials said.

“Our patients’ and staff members’ safety are our priority,” said Jordan Edwards, SBL’s Emergency Department Director. “Because our Emergency Department is increasingly busier, we are requiring all visitors to the ER to wear a name badge.”

The sticker should be visible at all times.
