Greetings and Happy Wednesday, friends! Hope you had a filling and fabulous Thanksgiving. As we’re now officially all up in the (cue dramatic music) HOLIDAY SEASON, at some point you’re liable to spin your wheels on what to get for the “hard-to-buys” on your list. For those of you who have a reader in your circle, you’re in luck. This week I had the chance to chew the fat with an up and coming local author — right here from Southern WV — who’s starting to make a name for himself on the national front. I’m talking about Logan County’s, Jordan Farmer. While not his first release, his new novel, Lighthouse Burning, is the first in what he is calling his “Harlan Winter” series.

Christmas events set for Thanksgiving weekend
Two Christmas events are scheduled during the Thanksgiving weekend in Williamson and Matewan. The Williamson Events Committee will host its Hometown Christmas and Merry Little Market on Nov. 25 beginning at 10 a.m. with a pancake breakfast with Santa at 3 Guys Pizza and a one mile run. Vendors open their booths at 11 a.m. and also at that time the new Dashing Through the Streets event will begin.

My earliest recollection of receiving a haircut is when I was about five years old and sitting in a chair on my grandparents’ front porch. Although I can’t say for sure, I suspect the hair cutting event was likely due to me getting ready to go to school for the first time. I do not remember the haircut as being a pleasant experience.
