Marysville man killed after motorcycle crash on bridge

A Marysville man was killed late Friday night after his motorcycle reportedly crashed into a pole on the 5th Street bridge, the Yuba City Police Department said.

According to officials, officers were dispatched to the 5th Street bridge at about 11:40 p.m. on Saturday after receiving information that a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle had occurred.

Once on the scene, officers located a “deceased male in the eastbound lanes” of the bridge, police said. The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Tuesday that the man who was found dead was 24-year-old Diego Miguel Zuniga of Marysville.

“The motorcyclist was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed getting onto the 5th Street bridge when he collided into a light pole,” the Yuba City Police Department said. “The 5th Street bridge was closed for a period of time to complete the investigation.”

No other information about the incident was available as of press time Tuesday.
