JUPITER ISLAND ― Two bricks of cocaine washed up on north Jupiter Island beaches this week, both found by beachgoers on different days, police said Saturday.

Martin County Sheriff's Capt. Bill Dowdy said beachgoers found the 1-kilo (2.2 lbs.) bricks Monday and Wednesday.

Sheriff's deputies collected two bricks of cocaine on two different days on a Jupiter Island beach. A Spanish expletive marked the packaging of the drugs.

"We caution the public, if you see them to call us, not to touch them," Dowdy said.

The people reported the findings to Jupiter Island Police, who then called in the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Dowdy said.

Dowdy said this likely wasn't a planned drop, but investigators do not know how the bricks arrived at the beach. "We don't know if these were thrown overboard or if they were part of a shipment or a bundle that broke free," he said. "There's no telling."

The cocaine will be turned over to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency, Dowdy said.

Each brick had a Spanish expletive printed on the packaging. Dowdy said drug cartels often print words, emojis and logos on the packaging to mark their product.
