'I’m still trying to stay strong': Loved ones shocked after Martin County man allegedly stabs wife to death
THAT THIS HAPPENED. I FELT LIKE I LEFT THIS WORLD, BUT I’M STILL HERE TRYING TO STAY STRONG. WHAT HAPPENED? LOVED ONES OF DOMINGA GASPAR COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED MONDAY EVENING. MARTIN COUNTY DEPUTIES RUSHED TO THE 14,000 BLOCK OF SOUTHWEST CHEROKEE DRIVE IN INDIAN TOWN. AND WHEN THEY GOT THERE, THEY SEE THE VICTIM’S HUSBAND, 39 YEAR OLD PEDRO MATEO. ANDRÉS WAS KNEELING OVER HER, COVERED IN BLOOD. HE STATED THAT HE WAS JEALOUS. HE THOUGHT SHE WAS HAVING AN EXTRAMARITAL FAIR AND WAS GOING TO LEAVE HIM. SO HE LOST HIS TEMPER AND TOOK MATTERS INTO HIS OWN HAND. GASPAR DIED FROM MULTIPLE STAB WOUNDS. DEPUTIES SAY THE COUPLE’S YOUNG DAUGHTER SAW EVERYTHING THAT HAD HAPPENED. SHE SAID, QUOTE, MY OLDEST SISTER IN BOYNTON BEACH, SHE IS OKAY. THE VICTIM’S BROTHER TELLS US THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS IN THEIR MARRIAGE. I CALL HER OR SOMETIMES SHE CALLED ME AND NEVER SHE TOLD ME WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND I WAS BEING GOT ANY PROBLEM? MY BROTHER IN LAW KNOW SAID SHE KNOWS AND I THINK IS WRONG TO SAY I’M GOOD. HOW ARE YOU? I’M GOOD. HAS A SISTER ALSO SAYS GASPAR WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR HER. SHE ALWAYS CALLED ME ON THE PHONE LIKE SHE’S. HEY, HOW ARE YOU? HOW ARE YOU WITH THE BABY? YOU NEED HELP. AND THE FAMILY TELLS ME THAT THEY PLAN TO SEND HER BODY BACK TO HER HOME COUNTRY OF GUATEMALA, LA. WHERE HER PARENTS PLAN TO BURY HER. REPORTING LIVE IN MART

A Martin County Judge denied bond for 39-year-old Pedro Mateo-Andres, who had been charged with first-degree premeditated murder. The Martin County Sheriff's Office rushed to the 14000 block of SW Cherokee Drive in Indiantown on Monday evening after receiving calls about a stabbing incident. Deputies said when they got to the house, they found the suspect kneeling over his wife, Dominga Gaspar, and they were covered in blood. "He stated that he was jealous, he thought she was having an extramarital affair, and was going to leave him...so, he lost his temper and took matters into his own hand," Chief Deputy John Budensiek of the Martin County Sheriff's Office, said. WPBF 25 News talked to loved ones of Gaspar as well as of Andres. They said they were shocked when they got the call Monday. "Felt like I left this world, but I’m still trying to stay strong on what happened," Elisa Mateo-Miguel, the victim's sister-in-law, said. Officials said Gaspar died from multiple stab wounds, and the couple's young daughter saw everything that had happened. "The baby, she’s with my other sister in Boynton Beach, and she is okay," Antonio Gaspar, the victim's brother, told WPBF 25 News. Loved ones also said they were not aware of any problems in the couple's marriage. "I call her, or sometimes she calls me. Never she told me what happened or any problem with my brother-in-law," Gaspar said.Family said they plan to send her body to her home country of Guatemala, where her parents will be burying her. Andres remains behind bars at the Martin County Jail.
