One Florida sheriff has advice for residents after a rash of car burglaries.

There have been more than 50 car burglaries in Martin County so far this year and Sheriff William Snyder says two people have been arrested for at least some of those crimes.

Two cars were broken into last week near Stuart and 18-year old Anthony Batista is charged, along with a 14-year old accomplice. Detectives tracked the suspects down after running a license plate on a motor scooter that was captured in doorbell cam video at the scene of one of the burglaries.

Snyder says the crooks used a window punch tool to get into the locked vehicles, but many targeted cars are left unlocked.

In addition to locking your vehicle, the Sheriff says valuables should never be left inside them whether they're visible or not.
