MARSTON — One person was killed and another was injured in a wreck Tuesday morning.
According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra was southbound on U.S. 1 just after 8 a.m. when it crossed the center line near Old Laurel Hill Road and struck a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck.
Troopers say the driver of the car, Allen Dawkins of Ellerbe, was alone in the vehicle and died on impact.
The driver of the truck, Beatriz Torruco, was taken to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the NCSHP.

The call went out at 8:19 a.m. The northbound lane was closed until around 10:45 a.m. and troopers were reportedly on the scene until 11.
