On September 18, 2023 an officer observed a vehicle traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed westbound on US Highway 62. Radar confirmed the vehicle was traveling at 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated and Rodney Wayne Walker, 46, of 580 East 10th Avenue, Calvert City was charged with speeding 15 mph over limit, no registration receipt, no registration plates, failure to produce insurance card, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Samuel Lindsay Farmer was born April 11, 1962. He grew up a Marshall County native, living near the lake and enjoyed exploring the woods, riding ATV’s and being on the lake. He loved listening to rock n roll and collecting comics when he was young. Sam had a great sense of humor; told you like it was and was a great listener. He enjoyed sipping on sweet tea, reading books and working with his hands. Whether he was working in a plant, fixing up cars, or fabricating metal he was always happy to build and make things.

Tuesday night’s dramatic five-set win over Marshall County (by set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 17-25, 19-25, 15-13) at the Calloway Auxiliary Gym not only gave the Lady Lakers (10-3) what is believed to be the best start in program history at this point of a season, it has now put them in position for their first-ever No. 1 seed in the 4th District Tournament. The win over the Lady Marshals (7-10 overall, 3-2 in district play) now has the Lady Lakers at 4-0 in the district, a full two matches ahead of Marshall.
Georgia man arrested in Calvert City for high speed, reckless driving
A Georgia man in a hurry found himself behind bars after a high-speed pass through Marshall County. Calvert City Police and the Marshall County Sheriff's Office stopped a Dodge Challenger for speeding and reckless driving along I-69 after reportedly clocking it with radar at 125 mph on I-24. The driver, identified as 30-year-old James Nathanael White of Jonesboro, Georgia, was allegedly observed passing vehicles on the shoulders of the road at a high rate of speed, as well.
