NMU, faculty approve new wage agreement
MARQUETTE, MI— Faculty at Northern Michigan University are getting raises in the next two fiscal years. In November 2021, NMU reopened wage negotiations for the fiscal year 2024-25 with the AAUP/AFT union. It gives about 400 faculty members a 6.25-percent wage increase beginning July 1st, and a 2.75-percent hike starting July 1st of 2025. They replace the 2.25-percent increases originally negotiated.

Mostly dry spell with rainy relief next week
For the next couple days most of the Upper Peninsula will be under elevated wildfire risk due to dry conditions and winds from the northwest around 15-25 mph. Relief from the dry conditions doesn’t move in until Tuesday morning with a light brush of rain from the southwest. Temperatures this weekend are slightly below average but warmer air is set to move in and some areas could see highs in the 60s by Monday.
