He understands the physical skills it takes to do his job, but there’s also a mental part to the game; sometimes that means making decisions out of the arena that can affect how things go when it’s time to do battle.
Time for Burgers - Support Marlow Boys Basketball Team
Marlow High School’s Boys Basketball team will host the pre-game football dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, in the elementary cafeteria. From left, Peyton Powell, Kagun Mahaffey, Zach Long and Mason Holding represent for the team during off-season practice Monday, Sept. 11. The Outlaw Band, cheerleaders and Bootleggers will assist at the dinner. There will be grilled hamburgers, chips, baked beans, potato salad, homemade desserts and drinks. Take-out orders will be available. This is an annual tradition. Be sure to support the team, then attend the game against Pauls Valley in Outlaw Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m. and game kickoff is 7 p.m.
Lady Indians get win on Senior Night
It was a fight to the finish, but the Lady Indians sent off their four seniors with a win in their final regular season home game on Monday. A determined Lexington (11-18) team held Comanche (17-11) in check until the Lady Indians finally pushed across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-4 lead.

Piedmont football defeats Duncan 54-3 Friday night
On the first play from scrimmage, Duncan’s Jayzen Kortemeir took a shotgun snap from the center and found a seam to burst into the Piedmont secondary. But the Demons positive yardage play quickly went the other way. The ball was fumbled, and Piedmont’s Mikah Rocco scooped up the ball and ran 30-yards into the end zone for the first score of the game about 23 seconds into the game.
Fast start boosts Marlow over Indians
The Comanche Indians came into the Marlow game with a heavy heart, but still played with a lot of heart in a 42-6 loss to Marlow last Friday night. The game came just four days after former teammate Noah Presgrove was found dead along the roadside in Jefferson County early Monday morning.

Cross country get underway
Cross country is one of the fall sports currently underway at Duncan Middle School. Cross country is a sport for students where they run anywhere from one to three miles outdoors, competing against other schools with the goal of finishing the fastest and winning points for the school’s team. The sport is open to sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students at DMS.
