Banterra Bank donates more than $25K through eclipse glasses sales
MARION, Ill. (KFVS) - Banterra Bank’s eclipse glasses fundraiser proved to be a success. According to a release, Banterra used their locations in six states to distribute glass for the April 8 total solar eclipse for a minimum donation of $2 each. More than $25,000 was raised for critically ill children, with donations going to nonprofit organizations Granted and Make-A-Wish.

Banterra continues naming-rights agreement with SIU
Banterra Bank is expanding its partnership with SIU and Saluki Athletics. In 2019, Banterra entered a 10-year, multi-million-dollar naming rights agreement with SIU as part of the re-branding of SIU Arena to Banterra Center. Although the agreement gave Banterra the ability to opt-out of the partnership in year five, Banterra and SIU will continue the partnership for the next five years, with enhancements to the agreement.
SIU awards nearly $173,000 in Green Fund grants
CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Southern Illinois University Carbondale celebrated Earth Day by awarding almost $173,000 in Green Fund grants to 15 diverse projects. According to sustainability director, Aimee Lemrise, the Green Fund Grant Committee, chaired by a student and including three additional students, a staff member, and a faculty member, reviewed 18 proposals.
