SEMO Baseball eliminated in OVC Tournament by Eastern Illinois
MARION, Ill. (KFVS) - The SEMO Baseball team was eliminated by Eastern Illinois in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament 7-6 Wednesday night at Mtn. Dew Park in Marion, Ill.
Trailing 6-3 in the eight inning, SEMO’s Carlos Aranda sent a towering fly ball over the left field wall for a two-run home run. The deficit was cut to one.
However, a Grant Lashure RBI in the top of the ninth extended Eastern Illinois’ lead to two.
The Redhawks got a lead off homer in the bottom of the ninth from Caleb Rodgers to close the gap back to one run. Then Peyton Leeper lined a base hit to center to get the tying run on base, but three consecutive outs afterwards ended the game, 7-6.
With the loss, SEMO ends the season with a 26-30 record and sees it’s streak end at two straight OVC Tournament titles.
