A multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning near the Dade/Marion County line left one person in the hospital.

That's according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety (GDPS).

GDPS says two vehicles, a Ford Edge and a pickup truck, were traveling westbound on I-24 near the Tennessee state line at Mile Marker 167.

The driver of the Ford attempted to pass the pickup truck on the left, which was pulling a trailer, but apparently did not see a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driving up ahead.

The driver of the Ford then tried to swerve back into the right lane but struck the trailer of the pickup truck.

The Ford then crossed over the left lane and struck the guardrail on the left shoulder where it finally came to rest.

Officials on the scene had to extract the driver from the passenger side of the Edge.

The driver was transported to a local hospital, but it isn't clear how serious the injuries were.

GDPS says the other two occupants in the pickup truck were not injured.

As of two PM Sunday, the Westbound right lane as well as the right shoulder near Mile Maker 167 remain blocked.
