MARINETTE — The Marinette High School softball team made it two in a row with an 11-5 North Eastern Conference win over Wrightstown on Tuesday.

The Marines weathered a tough 0-5 start to the season but have now once back-to-back contests while outscoring the opposition by a combined 23-5.

The Marinette offense continued to click with its third double-figure scoring output of the season.

The Marine bats put three runs on the board in the first inning and two more in the second to stake pitcher Wynn Erdman to an early 7-1 lead.

Erdman pitched around six walks and a pair of errors but avoided trouble except for the third inning where the Tigers plated three runs to close the gap to 7-4.

The bats quickly came to Erdman’s aide, as Marinette scored four runs in the fourth inning to gather a healthy 11-4 advantage.

Erdman tossed all seven innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on eight hits while striking out eight.

The senior pitcher paced the offensive effort as well with a 4-for-4 day at the plate while the Marines outhit the Tigers 12-8.

Erdman had a pair of doubles mixed into those four hits, and the Marines ripped six extra-base hits on the day.

Bri Adamski was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored. Peyton VanPool and Barrett Cole each had a double, and Kaya Bodam recorded a triple. Georgieanna Grandaw was 2-for-3 on the day.
