Wood, Jackson, Roane, Pleasants and Ritchie Counties together are getting just over $320,000 that will be managed by the Wood County Commission.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – North Star Child Advocacy Center (CAC) received funds from the state of West Virginia. North Star is a non-profit located in Parkersburg. The CAC provides a single safe, child-friendly facility where child protection, criminal justice, and child treatment professionals work together to investigate abuse, hold offenders accountable, and help children heal.

Over 60 venders showed up, and within the first hour over 100 people stopped in to make connections with local businesses. Ray A. Needs, 70 of Waterford passed away at 7:30 am, Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his home. He was born on April 5, 1953, in Marietta a son of Francis and Mildred Wright Needs. Ray is survived by his four sons: Tony Needs of Marietta, Timothy Needs of Macksburg, Mitchell Needs of Marietta and Quinn Needs of Barlow and three grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.

Joseph L. McCray, Jr., 70, of Williamstown, WV, departed this life on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Joe was born April 22, 1953 in Ashland, OH, a son of the late Joseph L. and Elsie A. (Ross) McCray, Sr. He was a graduate of Harrisville High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Glenville State University. Joe retired from Axens North America following a 39-year career where he served as the plant manager. He greatly enjoyed hunting and being on “The Farm” in Tyler County. He loved playing cards with his family and friends as well as cornhole and he was an excellent woodworker. Most of all, Joe enjoyed making memories just being around his family and friends.
