One woman was killed and another person was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle wreck early Saturday, Marietta Police said.
Sarah Bolt, 38, of Monroe, Georgia, died from injuries sustained when she was struck by a car, according to police.
The wreck occurred around 12:42 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 75 near the Delk Road exit. According to investigators, a Kia Sedona was traveling south on I-75 approaching the exit for Delk Road. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control, traveled across all lanes of travel and struck the median wall, then traveled back across all lanes and struck the right-hand guard rail. The Kia came to a stop in the far-right lane and was struck by multiple vehicles.
“While all of this was occurring, a black Dodge Challenger traveling in the far right-hand lane lost control and struck two pedestrians that had stopped on the right-hand shoulder and were attempting to report the initial crash and render aid,” police said.
Bolt, one of the pedestrians, was transported from the scene with serious injuries, and did not survive. Another pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the Kia received minor injuries; the driver of the Dodge was not injured.
The investigation into this crash ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Marietta Investigator P. Wishon at 770-794-5384.
