Malone man dead after motorcycle crash involving deer in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – In Marianna on Saturday, a crash involving a deer and a motorcycle resulted in one man dead and two injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said a motorcycle was traveling south just after 9:30 p.m. on State Road 71 near Jasmine Drive. The driver collided with the deer causing both to enter the northbound lane of State Road 71.

Troopers said a Ford SUV traveling north was unable to avoid impact, colliding with the motorcycle, rider, and deer.

FHP said pieces of the motorcycle caught fire.

The SUV with 5 passengers from Gordon, Fla. came to a controlled stop in the roadway, FHP officials wrote.

Both passengers from the vehicle were transported to Jackson ER, and the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene, according to a news release.
