JWP volleyball defeats Maple River before traveling to compete in Tri-City United Tournament

Thursday night, the JWP volleyball team hosted the Maple River Eagles. Despite dropping the second set, the Bulldogs rebounded to earn a 3-1 (25-18, 15-25, 25-18, 25-14) victory, improving to 3-6 on the season.

Brielle Bure led the team with 20 digs as well as an ace and her digs put her over 500 in her varsity career. Lilly Strauss recorded 12 kills and a pair of blocks and Neveah Weimart recorded 10 assists and five digs. Aubrey Weedman added 18 assists, surpassing 500 in her varsity career, while adding 14 digs, five kills and six service aces.

The Bulldogs to action Saturday morning when they traveled to Montgomery to compete in the Tri-City United tournament. JWP went 1-2 in pool play with 2-0 losses to Tri-City United and Kenyon Wanamingo, who finished second and first in the tournament respectively, before defeating Fairmont 2-0.

In bracket play, the Bulldogs defeated Lester Prairie 2-1 and finished the day with a 2-1 win over LCWM. The tournament improved the team record to 6-8.

Monday night, JWP will return to action when the team travels to Mankato to battle the Mankato Loyola Crusaders with the varsity match scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
